Justin Burkett, L.Ac., MSOM

Justin Burkett is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in providing solutions for allergies, addictions, chronic and acute pain and other health problems.

He graduated from UCLA with a degree in biochemistry, and rather than continue on to Western Medicine, he went to SAMRA University of Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles and graduated in 2001. His post graduate studies include electro-acupuncture, medical qi-gong, and the biochemistry of cellular membranes.

Justin is a native Californian who grew up in a family with 2 emergency room nurses as parents and a sister who became a nurse. He always knew he would be in medicine. For his fifth birthday he wanted a stethoscope, (he got a baby brother instead… and also that stethoscope) It was around then he decided he would become a doctor when he grew up

As a pre-med undergrad, he realized that there is more to healing than drugs and surgery, and was fascinated with the idea of natural healing. The take home message was that the human body was an amazing biochemical factory that with the right environment and the right inputs we have everything we need for vibrant health.

He was literally called to acupuncture in the summer after college when he was playing a drum and getting into a trance and his sister, the nurse, called.

“What are you doing?” she said.

“Oh, not much, just playing the drum and getting trans-dimensional” he said.

“You know, you should study acupuncture.”

And so he did.

His first experience receiving acupuncture was for allergies. He had been dealing with allergies to cats, dairy, spring time since he was a child. He will be the first to admit that it was very strange to lie there with needles in his face and hands and feet, waiting… During that first session he experienced a clarity he had never known, and after a course of treatment and lifestyle changes he has been free from allergies since.

His career has involved many interesting turns. He’s been a teacher and has worked with chiropractors, massage therapists, and M.D’s. He traveled all around the world as an acupuncturist on cruise ships. In 2016 he opened up his own Clinic in Nevada City.

His mission and purpose is to provide relief and guidance to people in

• metabolic dysfunctions such as diabetes and cancer

The human body as a wonderful instrument capable of making incredibly joyful music – when it’s in tune. But an out of tune instrument is a challenge to play and to listen to. His job is to help people tune their instrument so that they can live life at a higher level free from pain and addiction, so they can feel the joy of being alive and breathing free so they can share their music and stories with the world.
